Veddy interesting...

I was looking at some 9-11 sites online when I found several written by obvious conspiracy theorists. It seems there are a few folks out there who think the government and President Bush were in on the attacks. That's not really that suprising, I guess. There are always people out there who think the government is behind everything. What was suprising is that George W. gave these folks all of the ammunition they need.

At a town hall meeting two years ago, it seems that the president told the audience that he had seen the first plane hit the World Trade Center on TV. Since no one knew this was going to happen... And, thus, no one would have been out filming the WTC waiting for a plane to hit it... I'm guessing that it would have been impossible for anyone to watch the first plane hit on TV.

The MP3 audio of his comment is here. CNN has a transcript of his entire speech that day here.

George Bush: "And I was sitting outside the classroom waiting to go in, and I saw an airplane hit the tower -- the TV was obviously on, and I use to fly myself, and I said, 'There's one terrible pilot.' And I said, 'It must have been a horrible accident.' But I was whisked off there -- I didn't have much time to think about it, and I was sitting in the classroom, and Andy Card, my chief who was sitting over here walked in and said, 'A second plane has hit the tower. America's under attack.'"

Because I don't believe that the government is out to get me, I'm guessing that this is nothing more than over embellishment on the part of the president. However, it's sort of disappointing that the president would get his facts screwed up on what has to be the biggest story of our lives.
