Sometimes being the underdog is best. No one sees you coming. No one has faith in you. You do something not only to prove to others you can... But to prove it to yourself. But you can only be an underdog so long. Eventually, people will come to expect certain things from you. And then the scariest of all things happens: They put faith in you. They trust you. It's even possible for them to believe in you more than you believe in yourself. And such a situation creates some of the most conflicting feelings a person can have -- the best and the worst all wrapped into one package. The faith is like a prize. But the situation is such that you can't enjoy the prize for fear of losing it...
