check engine soon

(no subject)

Well, here we are... a day later and 40 degrees colder. It's been drizzling sleet and freezing rain for the past six hours. I just made a drive around the block and the roads look decent. I've been constantly watching the radar and I think we'll fare better than was first thought. And since it was seventy-friggin-two degrees yesterday, I'm thinking that it will take a bit longer for roads and such to freeze. Nevertheless, I drove my truck a half-mile down the road and parked it on top of the hill. That way, if things get crazy, I'll be able to make it to work.

I prefer cold over heat dang near every day... However, I don't much like southern winter weather. There is very little predictability in that. That doesn't suit my control gene very well. Snow is one thing. You can drive in snow. You can plow snow out of the way. You can stay home and build snow men. However, when ice is the threat... no good comes from it. Roads are slick. Power lines snap. The world shuts down. Blah. And this time is worse because we're not exactly sure how much we're going to get here. Tell me what to expect and I'm better... As it is, I'm not a fan of the uncertainty.

I'm supposed to be in bed with Jessie right now. I wasn't happy about leaving her Friday night and I was even less happy about coming home to my empty apartment without her. So, what do I do instead? I stay up until the wee hours of the morning watching a radar that's not changing very much... Yeah, you'll definately be seeing my name in your Funk & Wagnalls under the "productivity" heading. Heh.
