Field trip

The pitfall of having most of your friends either working at the same place you do or living a hundred or two miles away is that you tend to spend you days off alone. I figured that if I was going to spend today alone, I might as well take a field trip.

I spent two hours and change this afternoon in one of the most historic cemeteries here in town. Then, I snuck into the Franklin National Cemetery shortly before it closed for the day. I have an entry I want to write about the things that are in my head now... and I have more pictures I want to post... But here are a few photos from the national cemetery. They aren't artistic or anything, but I don't think they have to be to be powerful in a place like that.

Regardless of what city you're in, it should always be overwhelming to see the rows and rows of white stones. Regardless of your political affiliation, it's gotta be impressive to see so many people who were dedicated to a common cause -- many of them dying in defense of that cause. Remember, not every war was controversial. There was a time when it was simply good versus evil.
