Attention Home Buyers!

Where is the best resource for home-buying information. Jessie & I are sort of looking at things and it's all so overwhelming. I know it's supposed to be overwhelming, but there's gotta be a place out there that makes everything makes some sort of sense. Please tell me I'm right. Show me the light.

Have you guys been pre-approved yet? That's the first stop, I think. Then to find a realtor. Too much information can be bad information. (so says I) Maybe find out how much you can afford (getting pre-approved), then decide from there what’ available in your price range. Get some comps so you’re sure it’s a good investment.

It’s really not that difficult. Talk to real people instead of the web.

How cool! I love looking at houses. Start going to open houses and walk neighborhoods you like. It’s fun.

Don't get stressed about it. AFter all, it's only the biggest investment you'll make in your entire life.

We've known what we could afford and what we could be approved for for a while (I assure you the former is less than the latter). As of today, however, we'll have it on paper from the bank.

We've been doing a lot of scouting -- newspapers, realty listings, online stuff, open houses, etc. It's been fun so far.

By using the term comps... Are you talking about comparable prices for property actually sold or comparable asking prices for similar property?

Find out what homes sold for in the neighborhoods you’re looking at. That’ll give you some idea of their current value. But your realtor is going to have that information anyway. If this is something you’re looking to sell, say five years down the road, you might like to know how much profit was acquired from these comparison reports also. The information is out there on how much a homeowner paid for the house, how long he had it, and how much he sold it for.

Eh …. Just buy what you like. It’s all good.

No pictures yet. It happened so sudden. But there's a house. We made an offer. They laughed. They proposed a number. We didn't think it was that bad. And, poof! I think we bought a house. Heh.
